As the causative agent of tuberculosis (TB), Mycobacterium tuberculosis is a major player in global health, responsible for approximately 1.4 million deaths in 2019 alone. TB remains a significant public health concern due to its airborne transmission, latent infections, and the increasing prevalence of drug-resistant strains.
The TheiaProk workflow series makes the analysis of M. tuberculosis data easy by offering an all-inclusive, user-friendly, and efficient tool for its characterization. In collaboration with the public health community, we’ve added the TBProfiler tool to TheiaProk to specifically assist in the analysis of M. tuberculosis WGS data. TheiaProk uses TBProfiler to help laboratories identify the genomic markers associated with antimicrobial resistance, a critical aspect of TB control that also helps facilitate effective treatment strategies, especially as drug resistance in TB becomes more pervasive.

Whether you’re focusing on genome assembly, quality control, or in-depth variant screening, TheiaProk equips your lab with the necessary resources to confidently address the intricate problems presented by tuberculosis.
In a world where TB continues to pose significant health threats, the more we understand about Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the better equipped we are to fight it. In this battle, knowledge truly is power and that is why our aim at Theiagen is to give you the best tools to gain that knowledge.
