About

Are you facing issues accessing your data on Terra.bio? Sometimes workflows fail because we do not have permission to access the data files that we are using as inputs to the analysis. Like most issues in Terra, insufficient permissions will result in run failures. When a run fails, users can check the error messages in the log files accessible in the Job Manager.

When users ask Terra to analyze files that they are not permitted to access, the log file will include this error message:

AccessDeniedException: 403 pet-##################.iam.gserviceaccount.com does not have storage.objects.list access to the Google Cloud Storage bucket. Permission 'storage.objects.list' denied on resource (or it may not exist).

If you receive this error, double-check your workspace configurations and permissions by following the next steps:

Workspace Permissions: Navigate to your workspace settings and review the access permissions. To run a workflow you will need “reader” and “can compute” permissions. Adjust as needed to ensure all collaborators have the required access levels.

Data Access: Confirm that data files relevant to your analysis are properly imported into your workspace. If these files were originally uploaded to another workspace then you will need “reader” access in that workspace.

Workspace Permissions: Ensure that the compute resources required for your analysis are available and that you have “can compute” permissions.

Documentation and Support: Take advantage of Theiagen’s extensive documentation and community forums. If you’re still encountering issues, don’t hesitate to reach out during Theiagen Genomics Office Hours for personalized assistance.

Effective troubleshooting is key to maximizing your productivity on Terra.bio. Stay proactive, collaborate with peers, and leverage available resources to overcome any challenges!
